Dynamics 365 release wave 2 2024 part 1

And it is time to start planning for the new functionality that we have all been waiting for!

The release wave 2 2024 notes have been published and we now know what there is in plan for the second half of 2024. For Dynamics 365 you can read through whole 355 pages to make sure you have covered all the products. That is quite the read.

I have decided to do a series of posts of the most exciting new releases coming to both Dynamics 365 (Sales, Customer Insights and Copilot for Sales) and Power Platform in my opinion. Among them are many features that my customers have been waiting for and created custom solutions for.

Starting off with Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, which is getting some long requested updates and new features that everyone working with the product will definitely enjoy.

What is coming for Customer Insights - Journeys?

From October 2024 it is possible to create fields directly on the forms without connecting them to an existing attributes on the Lead or Contact tables. The value will be stored as part of the Form submission record.

  • Form prefill
    Public preview: October 2024, General availability: NA

From October 2024 you have the possibility to use prefill functionality for both regular marketing (landing page) and event registration forms. To be able to have the information automatically filled on the form, customers need to open the form from a link in an email sent from Dynamics 365 Customer Insights.

  • Event portal
    Public preview: October 2024, General availability: NA

The Out of the box Event portal that we had with outbound marketing is now also coming to real-time. Being able to embed in an existing website or using the Power Pages template.

Another feature that has been missed! From October 2024 it is possible to see also statistics on a heatmap for emails. This helps to find out which areas of the email or links are most interesting for your customers.

Another feature that has been missed from outbound is tracking web interactions. Especially for lead scoring. Just like before you need to generate a tracking script and embed it in your website.

And last but actually one that I am most excited about is:

From October 2024 we are adding another table towards better ALM possibilities within Customer Insights - Journeys. Until now, we have had the option of adding Emails and Triggers to solutions and now also Journeys. We are only a few tables away to have it all 😉
