Welcome to the 2nd part of the release wave 2 2024 series. The first post was dedicated to Customer Insights-Journeys. And all the features that I am looking very much forward to getting to try. But there is so much more coming out for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform.
Lets finish my favorite updates for Dynamics 365 with an overview for Customer Insights - Data and Sales.
What's coming for Customer Insights - Data?
Unfortunately there are not that many new things released for Customer Insights-Data, but there are still a few:
Use automation to manage segments and measures
Public preview: August 2024, General availability: October 2024
One of the first things coming is a feature to make sure your measures and segments get updated/refreshed faster than before. Now the system will automatically deactivate segments and measures based on their inactivity. This will help to reduce the number of active segments and make their refresh faster. This will be possible to turn off by the admin 😉
Generate insights from marketing interactions
Public preview: October 2024, General availability: December 2024
This will be an interesting feature to everyone not using Fabric yet but want to still work with the insights from campaigns in Customer Insights.
In October 2024 you will be able to work with the data from marketing interactions like EmailOpened or EmailSent.
This will only be available for Segments created through Customer Insights - Data.
Simplify and centralize data sources using Dataverse
Public preview: February 2025, General availability: NA
With Customer Insights - Data a huge plus is the flexibility to connect to many different data sources. That is also a huge minus 😁. With that many options it is difficult to know what approach is best to take. In order to make it a bit easier, then from February 2025 Microsoft is making Dataverse automatically linked to Customer Insights and ready to use. Also all the external data that Dataverse connects to will be available to you.
What's coming for Dynamics 365 Sales?
Dynamics 365 Sales will get a lot of updates to its Copilot capabilities. But there are also updates coming for Opportunities and Lead qualification as well that I find even more interesting. Make sure that you also check to which Microsoft Azure geographic area the features will be released to. You will see that when opening the link and clicking learn more. Not everything will get released everywhere yet 😉
Analyze opportunities with grouping and aggregating
Public preview: NA, General availability: October 2024
From October 2024 you will get an updated Opportunity pipeline view that lets you group Opportunities based on critera such as Account name, Estimated revenue etc. Besides being able to group, you can also aggregate the numeric values within the groups that you have created.
Customize lead qualification for a seamless experience
Public preview: NA, General availability: October 2024
This I am very excited about 🤩. Mostly because this is something that within a lot of my projects has been solved with code. But! From October 2024 from App Settings you will get the chance to choose which records get created automatically when qualifying leads and which the seller can decide upon.
Also, it will be possible to create multiple Opportunities from one qualified lead. Which is great for bigger projects.
Get 360-degree view with account AI-generated summary
Early access: July 2024, General availability: October 2024
If you haven't used Copilot in Dynamics 365 Sales before, then from October you will get one more reason to try it out. From October you will be able to see a 360 view of the account and associated data created by AI. Your admin has the privileges to decide which entities and fields are used to create the overview. Thus controlling the information that gets accessed for it.
Stay efficient with the Copilot immersive homepage
Public preview: October 2024, General availability: NA
From October 2024 you will get a new AI assistant to become more efficient in your daily life. You will get an out of the box homepage powered by AI. You can ask questions about your records, see notifications about your tasks and also a calendar view of the meetings you have.
When are changes coming?
All changes will be releases throughout October 2024 until March 2025. See an updated timeline on the Release Planner website.
